I’m right and you’re wrong! Are people allowed to disagree with you?

Are people allowed to DISAGREE with you?
They should be.

We have names for people who have to be “right” all the time. STUBBORN. CONTROLLING. TYRANNICAL. NARCISSISTIC.

If you FEEL personally assaulted when someone refutes or disagrees with your view then that is a sign you have tethered your identity to your view.

By identity I mean “the thing that gives you significance, value, purpose”.

Your very “significance” feels jeopardized so you become enraged, disgusted, and will do crazy things to keep your identity in tact. You’ll slander and demonize anyone who disagrees with you.

Example 1- If I tether my identity to my intellect and you out debate me on an issue I will feel devalued, discredited, and insignificant. My very significance has been challenged and that feels horrible!
Imagine the things I might do to avoid feeling horrible? The list is endless.

Example 2- If my significance and value are tied to my political or religious views I’ll
AUTOMATICALLY discredit any view that isn’t mine and deem the opinion of others as uneducated, ignorant, and wrong. (Bc of course, I’m right you see).

The truth? Most of us are TOO FRAGILE. We haven’t realized our identities are resting on shaky ground. WE DON’T KNOW WHO WE ARE👈🏼👀

We attach our value/significance to ideas and things that were never meant to hold us up😬
