ALL or NOTHING thinking
Here’s another thinking pattern that’ll eat you alive, provoke anxiety, and keep you in your own judgmental hell.
“ALL OR NOTHING” thinking. Black or white thinking. This thinking distortion manifests itself as an inability or unwillingness to see “the middle ground”. In other words you see things in EXTREMES. Something is either fantastic or awful. You are either perfect or a total failure. Your office presentation was amazing or it was disastrous. Other people are valuable or worthless. I’m totally right and you’re totally wrong.
White is good and black is bad.
My political views are totally just and yours are totally busted.
My church is totally legit and yours is completely heretical.
My views on sexuality are scientifically accurate and you’re incredibly stupid.
